Bernard Ting Wee's Reflective Journal

Throughout the topic that has been assigned to us for this assignment, which is Fundamental Rights and Liberties, I've learnt a lot about all the rights we possess as a Malaysia citizen. I have a better understanding about the liberty of a person, equality, freedom of speech, religion, education and many more. However, unfortunately there are still a few restrictions which limit our fundamental rights and liberties, especially when emergency acts come in. During a proclamation of emergency, anything that we do might cause us into troubles if our actions are found to be endangering the country.

Among all the topics, the topic that interests me the most is Article 8, which involves Equality among all person. This is because gender equality, race equality, religion equality has always been huge debate subjects, especially when Malaysia's citizens are made up of different races, religions and ofcourse two opposing genders. Thus, it is really informative and fun for me to discover the equality among these characteristics between the citizens of Malaysia. The outcome of the findings is that Malaysia do practice equality among all person but only till a certain extend.

Throughout the semester, class activities have helped me the most as we had competition between classmates to answer questions which allow us to compete to find for the correct answers in the shortest time possible. This allows me to gather information efficiently and be able to understand the subjects better.

Taylor's Graduate Capabilities (TGC) outlines the core knowledge, skills, abilities and qualities a student will develop at Taylor's University. The teaching and learning approach in this subject allow us to develop TGC in the course of completing this subject. One of the capabilities is discipline specific knowledge and we are able to develop this capability by having class tests which put what we learnt from books into practice and allow us to have a better understanding about the context of our study. Another capability is the thinking and problem solving skills, which we are able to acquire as we need to think critically and creatively when answering questions throughout this subject.

In conclusion,my overall reflection for this module throughout the semester is that it allows me to have a better understanding of Federal Constitution, which is the Supreme Law in Malaysia. It provides me knowledge about all the important law that we have to understand as citizens in Malaysia and allows me to be able to protect myself lawfully. Furthermore, our lecturer, Mrs. Saratha has always been very informative and helpful throughout the semester.
